Hnad Stitching

One of the things I love about quilting how things change once the stitching and texture go in. I have been hand stitching big roughish stitches and like the contrast of the stitches with the matches. This piece measuures 14 inches by 20 inches. I am tryig to finish it before tomorrow- but it stilol needs a lot of stitching.

My garden is a riot of yellow at the moment- all the daffodils are starting to open, the golden wattle are flowering, and the days are finally starting to get a bit longer. The broccoli has gone mad- just as well as vegetable sin teh shops are ridiculously expensive and likely to get more expensive.

One of the things I love most about reading blogs is being able to watch work in progress. You are right about the impact of the additional stitching - well worth the time it takes.

This is such a great example of how each addition changes the overall look. Just when I think I love it as it is, you add more and it gets better. Thanks for sharing your process!

The matchsticks coupled with the big stitches has created excitement. It seemed a bit static before with just the fires, in spite of their spikiness. But now it just jumps like real fire would!

I love the different textures, with the little stitches in the fires, bit stitches overall and the matches looking like huge stitches, carrying on the series. With match lines that are sorta vertical, quilting lines that are sorta horizontal, and every-which-ways in the fires, the movement is amazing. And I'm in love with red at the moment...

dijanne - i love the colour and texture in this work. the matches look great and i'm all for big, uneven stitching - i'd love to see a chunky, uneven sampler!!!!
