Travellers' Blanket

I have finally put all the squares onto the travellers' blanket- now all I have to do is the stitching around the squares but it is gettign there. Being able to sit in a warm shed in this cold and wet and stormy weather certainly helps! I think the single square above is my favourite- but that may change tomorrow. There is also a mistake in the whole piece- see if you can spot it! Now I have to get down to some serious machien sewing- there is a lot of stuff to make before I leave for Europe on the 21st of August! I have some free time for teaching during the week in early October if anyone is interested ( in the Netherlands or Belgium or Northern Germany)

On the weekend I will catch up and reciprocate some blog awards I have received in recent times-it's wonderful to think that my blog can inspire other people and I really do appreicate getting the awards. I know I get a lot of inspiration from other people's blogs

I am also planning some Creative Summmer Arts workshops in my studio this summer. I think some book making courses and even some lino-cut printing /cutting etc. I have to put my thinking cap on!

I love this - I want one! That's it, my next stitching project - I'm going to need something to stop me getting bored out of my brains (more of that some other time)

Your workshops sound like a great idea.

That quilt is exquisite. So deliciously original. Makes me want to start my own ...not that I can thread a needle, let alone make a stitch!

It's good to see that things are beginning to come together for you, after all this time.

I see a change in pattern - but is it a mistake or is it part of the organic feel of the whole???!!!

How I wish I could hop over from the UK for a lino printing class. Whilst the process isn't difficult, getting the balance of positive/negative for textile work isn't some I've mastered yet. And did you know there don't appear to be any books on the subject.......

Your blanket is on its trail . I like the colours and the stitching.
Is the "mistake" line 6 and 7 with the patches sewn in the same way? You have to watch very carefully to see it !
Have a nice time stitching

What a beautiful, intriguing and soulful piece. Dijanne, could you remind me why it's called a traveler's blanket? Glad you have heat. Lainie

oh I love this. I would like to make one eventually.

I think I may have said this before, but would you consider doing online courses/workshops for those of us who cannot come to you?

Your Traveler's Blanket is heart-achingly, soul-satisfyingly beautiful. The stitches around the squares are inspired. Lots of time will be put in, but they are worth it. They are perfect. Wonderful.

Hi! Dijanne,

I love your Travellers Blanket, it is quite delicious and has a wonderful tactile look to it, if I saw it in an exhibition I would find it very hard not to break the rules and touch it.

Good luck with getting all your work done for your trip.
