Is it true that cows ,sheep and other ruminating animals are responsible for climate change through the exiting of methane gas into the atmosphere by burping or farting- look at me how could such a sweet little thing as me be responsible for that????
Brown cow in the back ground- eeewww- is that methane I smell????
The view from the side porch of my house- it looks so benign and wonderful in the early morning sun- but in a northerly gale and summer overheat it is full of the possibility of danger.
I have been thinking about my climate change quilt- will I really put cows on it? I recently found that black cow looking into my back double glass doors as I was sitting and quilting- she is very bossy and cheeky!
I am off to Adelaide to teach for four days- so you won't hear from me in that time. Needless to say I haven't got much work done- just ruminating without the methane....

I have lovely memories of my holiday to Adelaide ten years ago. I hope to get there again one day. Enjoy the break.

So.... I'm still trying to figure out why we can't harness the methane and use it in our cars! Picture it... back up to the cow... nice cow! I just need to hook you up to this hose, then we'll just take some of that methane into our tank... whoa! Well, you get the picture!
@tiedyejudy - Great idea! I fear though that the animal Greenpeace might be against it.
Why not just get rid of cars and ride the cows?

I was told by my vetrinary that the human production of methane in New York City far outweighs the climatic danger than the methane from cattle.
All mammals have produced methane for thousands of years. So, maybe, it's catching up with all of us.
Any good ideas for reversing the situation? ? ? ?
hi there. happy to say that i found you on Twitter. hope your trip goes well.
Its more the burping than farting apparently. Its mainly agricultural countries like NZ that have methane from farm animals as one of their major sources of greenhouse gases. In Australia coalfired power stations are one of the majors. In other countries its industry, cars, people.
I was toying with the idea of putting a cow on mine, but you go right ahead, I have several other ideas :-)
I have good news for you all: Cyclical variations in Earth's climate are caused by cyclical variations in the Sun's output (this is why the Earth has been COOLING since 1998). You can all stop fretting about meat and electricity and let the rest of us get on with our lives.
I think climate change is a natural occurence and will come about whatever we do. However, I also think we should all take much better care of our lovely planet. I am very keen to get a copy of the book version of Lovely Lutrador when it comes out, but when I tried to email you to say so, my email was returned to me. I still want a copy of that book!! Any ideas?
LOL. Your post brought lots of smiles all round it seems.
But I think I agree with Heather on this one. But it still means we have to look after the place for the next generations.
