Venezia!

Why does Venezia exude its charm in such way, that no matter the hordes of tourists, no matter the soaring temperature, no matter the restaurant prices, that you still love the place? It is without doubt one of the special places in the world, a place that lives in mind and creates its own stories and intrigues. If you look carefully you will see that in the silver thing from the gondola ( what are they called?) is a window with a person looking out....
And I did finish stitching all the squares and quilting of the squares of my travellers blanket. I decided not to finish the edges ( time defeated me to some etxent) but also after someone said to me if you finish it entirley than will your travels be finished as well? A good question and one that made me decide I wanted to leave this blanket unfinished!

Before I even read your text, I thought, "Oh, I'm so glad she decided to leave the edges unfinished." Somehow it adds to teh authenticity of the piece.

I had the same reaction to Venice too. It's a magical place.

Hi,
I saw your Exhibition at Munich and loved it very much, although some things made me wonder (see my blog posting). This quilt looks very complete, the unfinishedness gives it the look of a much-loved blanket torn from use.
I used my impressions from your exhibitions as prompt for a little rant on my blog at http://tenar72.wordpress.com/2008/09/26/dijanne-cevaals-work/ if my critique ther bothers you just say so and I take it down again. I don't mean to be disrespectful or anything like that.

Your travelers blanket turned out very beautifull, you managed to put a lot of extra stitches in it since last month.
Heel erg jammer dat er niet genoeg deelnemers waren voor je workshop in Den Haag vandaag, ik had er echt zin in. Nou ja, volgende keer beter.

I love visiting your blog and I am in awe of your Traveler's Blanket. It is really wonderful. Am I correct that it is all hand stitching? I think so. I guess that must have been some meditation!

I have left a small gift for you at my blog today - please go read it!

Last year I read (well, heard) an excellent story on tape (ok, cd) about glassmakers in Venice. Plus the important families, their competition against each other and their histories. I'm terrible about names, but I think it was the same author that wrote about the Chicago exposition, Death in the White City or something like that. If one of your readers can figure it out, (or you) it's a great story!

(Boy, did that feel stupid! Wish I could remember the name...)
